The Wonder of Vinicunca

majestic and fierce your path filled with footsteps — always unconquered
My heart is happiest in nature and hiking in the mountains has been one of my favorite passions for years.
In late December 2018, I took a trip to Peru (with a short layover in Bogotá). On January 4, 2019, I visited the Andes for the first time — I almost lost my life that day (will write about that in another article).
Thinking about that experience, I wrote this haiku as a reminder that mountains can never be conquered. And as a way to honor Vinicunca in the Peruvian Andes.
Reading @Amarie Malone’s poem about the sunrise (and how each day is a fresh start) got me thinking of the blessing of each breath. 🌺
