The Winds of Change Are Blowing
Will there be enough time to return to our senses?
The winds of change are screaming, the clouds hang low
There’s a gnarly werewolf howling at the moon
That’s full and it’s bright on this cold winter light
No one knows where the hell to go
Mother Nature, she’s not happy with the ways of the world
Hurricanes and fires keep burning our sacred land
Yet as the sun comes up every morning and scorches the sand
She stretches out tattered hands, telling us in every way that she can
When will we learn that the beauty we’re forsaking
Will be stolen from generations that follow our taking
What we are leaving in our footprints and our dust
Is a lonely legacy clearly of our own making
It breaks my heart and then crushes it in two
As I think of the chain of reactions
Somehow our dreams got low in the misty snow
Will there be enough time to return to our senses
When I was young and thought I knew it all
Life seemed complicated, yet it was so simple
Now I’ve grown and stretched and feel quite old
And realize the consequences are oh so crippling
For my sons and daughters, brothers and sisters
Forgive me for what I’ve done, then left undone
While those fiery blisters call our name out in shame
We pray to reverse our folly and bring resounding consensus.
