The Win-Win War

A free verse poetry

Photo by Kinga Cichewicz on Unsplash

Muscles are working in tandem to pull the cover and shut it down But an unseen force is using all its might to resist the unstoppable, to not let it drown.

The battle has begun in full swing as the spectators wait for the end. Will they manage to shut it down? while the enemy refuses to bend.

Hold your breath, the battle is now over I just laid down a freshly ironed bed cover The muscles in my eyelid have been acting rubbish Not letting me stay awake and hit the button ‘Publish.’

Footnote

It’s past midnight and my eyes are super droopy. But the writer in me refuses to sleep. There’s literally a war going on between my eyelids and my mind. Who won? I don’t know.

I am too sleepy to decide the winner.

What I do know is that I’ll definitely revisit this poetry in the morning and think, “what the heck have I written” and make some edits for sure.

Gosh… I feel like I’m hungover. But I am simply sleepy sloppy. Nothing else….🥱😴💤
