The Wild Touch: Hybrid Prose Poem

Thursday Hybrid Prompt: the hybrid erotic

It begins as soft silk pads before turning over into the nails, the claw of human fingers as hunger rises and rises and takes —

over the scene deep…oh, deep into the skin

where my teeth press against lips so hard I can’t tell if they’re mine or yours — and it doesn’t matter — yet — the arch of your back to spring warmth, the sinking of knees into the forest, a thirsty explorer — a thirsty lostness but really right where I should be —

there is magic the breath inhabiting teeth and bodies

nude in the rain, naked sunshine along the coast and rivers — grasses reach up beyond calves, reach for the glowing between legs under skirt and jeans — there is a flesh that longs to be eaten —

moons go over and under go twisted in the shade of clouds

crouched behind a bush, the trunk of the elms, the animals gather over dirt and rejected acorns — the wild touch beginning with the eyes — then the sudden descent below the myths of chthonic gods, so low and lower and — the feet brushed of the flecks of dew and dust, kissed —

here is magic here are bodies a groan and another that cannot be hidden by the shade.

Prompt:

There’s a few of you, Rachel K. Gause, Ann Marie Steele, Melissa Coffey, and Adrea Kore, to name a handful, who write some pretty stellar erotic/sensual poetry/prose poems. I know that I feel great freedom writing them, though I know I’m often constrained by the (primarily male) instinct to keep to the visual, usually avoiding the other senses: the feeling of closeness, the touch, other energies flowing through me... I’ve learnt, over time, to embrace other aspects of the erotic, but the half-deaf man in me still tends to privilege his eyes. Respond to this prompt with a hybrid or prose poem that journeys into the erotic or sensual trying to embrace other senses than just the visual. Tag me in it and rock on!
