STORY ARC #4: A Hero of Pendown
The Way of the Sword…
A chapter of a ‘choose your own’ adventure
You can read the opening of The Hero of Pendown here, a ‘choose your own’ tale started by Jonathon Sawyer. You can also return to read the previous chapter here.
You’ve had it with these kobolds! Roaring with rage, you start to hack at them with more murderous intent.
Finally, some blows start to land. Two kobolds fall bleeding into the murky water, and the other shuffle back, looking shocked.
“Uhmm… is that really necessary?” asks Eshami.
“I welcome death!” you cry. “Next, let’s kill whatever’s in the tank.”
You hurry across to the hatch, and flip it open. Something is moving below. Fish? Eel? Dolphin? You see a long scaly fin.
“Time to slay this **cker,” you snarl.
There is an excited murmur from the remaining kobolds, and Eshami looks concerned as you sit down on the edge of the hatch.
“Manling!” commands the voice in your head. “Enter the water!”
Somehow, you know that this creature will prove more of a challenge…
You must flip a coin. If it lands “heads”, you may choose your adventure normally. But if it lands “tails”, you must choose option #1. Remember, cheating makes Eshami sad, and you don’t want that…
Do you:
- Pull out your hand crossbow, fire a few shots into the water, then slam the hatch shut (click here).
- Drop down into the water (click here).
