How would a cataclysm affecting the planet be handled.
This was a movie released in 2019. The prequel sequel was released sometime in 2023. Soon Dune 2 will also be released.
What other Alternatives. In a scenario similar to the movie, how could shelters be planned or built. Heating and cooling is a big problem as the earth starts to move away. Also the supply of food and water. Health and fitness. Work with recreation
Underground.
Tunnels could be built using Boring company to connect the shelters. Self contained shelters could be protected from storms above and temperature differences as well as earthquakes using rubber padding.
Underwater.
Glass domes could protect entire underwater ecosystems. Coral reefs and shallow water fish in the surrounding water. Heating and cooling for the water. With cleanliness and filtration. There are also underwater thermals to provide energy. Plenty of ocean fish life and plant life could be protected along with people. Biodiversity in disparate parts of the ocean could be protected.
Satellites.
Space elevators could be used to move people and supplies. Easy transport without rockets or planes. Good solar energy. Water from comets. Every space pod is self contained. Resources from asteroids and meteors. In fact asteroids could be converted into colonies around an earth orbit. No need to worry about storms on earth or earthquakes or epidemics.
Domes.
Similar to The Line being built in Saudi Arabia. A glass dome could protect an entire area. Air, water, land. Heating and cooling would protect the plants and wildlife inside. Support an entire ecosystem with oxygen, water, food. Healthy clean sustainable living for the communities. Mini domes could also be like stadiums with an inner area for nature and an outer area for workshops.
Cyber.
Similar to the Metaverse. People in small quarters wearing headsets and body suits. All the work, recreation, education, travel, community and settings would be virtual.
Towers.
Self contained high rise towers. High above ground. Well protected and situated at strategic locations. Small quarters would be easy to heat and cool. Local energy generators, food production, work provisions.
Trains.
A self contained train could move over land from shelter to shelter. Well planned routes. Safe transport in emergencies. Easy repairs. Keep shelters connected. Emergency personnel have fast access.
Volcanoes.
Townships could be built around volcanoes or thermal springs. Ready availability of energy and minerals.
Factors to consider.
Place for trees, wildlife, fish, birds to thrive and flourish. Tubes and tunnels for movement would be an alternative. Need energy, transport, work for basic civilization. People would need food, water, clean air for survival. Then social life, wellness, security would be a necessity.
Technology. Mechanical homes with everything adjustable and folding. Chemical means of cleaning, recycling, fertilizers, growing foods. Hydrogen fusion satellites in earth orbit for energy and heat. Internet or wireless for communications for productive economy.
