The Walk Home

When all he held dear stood to be lost, the walk home began to remember what matters most…

The Windy Desert Walk

Trudging tender soles, across copper sands as gritty winds peel skin exposing its rawness within — a wisp of wind flutes a deserted horn playing mournful notes as memories are reborn

The Siren’s Oasis

Licking chafed lips, palm fronds lull my dismay, as frothy lace on glistening eddies lap the shore of my naked visage — a tempting balm for the thirsty soul tease me away from what matters most

The Night’s Curtain Call

Exposed black and serene, a twinkling blanket covering all that was seen as I lay beneath night’s curtain — revealing the man within, a lucid dream it began to remember

The Dawn’s Clarity

Awake lifted eyes, absorb dawn's hue, as vultures pick at dead skin shed — the remnants of ghost town abandoned, as I walk back home to what matters most, renewed purpose, my beloved family, stories written from the heart…

Music and mother nature are my muse. Poetry is my catharsis. How this may resonate with you is my hope for a connection here. Do share if this speaks to you : )

Listening to America’s Horse With No Name paints my mental mural with all the motifs of renewal that inspired this poem. The proverbial desert trek — wandering through a hot, stark, barren desert setting and the sense of leaving behind worldly constraints and distractions to do a little soul searching and reconnect with what matters most — whatever that may be for you. For me — my beloved family and sharing stories from the heart.

It was a rough year last year. Some love and loss. Some tough decisions. Some much-needed therapy. But I’ll let the ghosts of last year’s haunts dwell in their abandoned town as I mosey on to my family at home. A new year full of love and hope.

Where do you draw inspiration from when you write? Where will your stories take you in this new year? What matters most to you?
