December Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Snow & White”

Is something moving in the void?

When I arrived in Moab, fog obscured the cliffsides, and rain was pattering against my windshield. This wasn’t the landscape I expected to see when I planned my trip. I had visions of clear, desert skies and vivid, crimson stone. Things don’t always work out the way you think. Turns out that’s okay.

At first, arriving at Dead Horse Point, I was disappointed; there was very little visibility. Snowflakes swirled around my car, melting on contact with the glass. The viewpoint was blanketed in snow, tinted red with mud.

Below, I expected to see a river winding around vibrant, sculpted rock formations, but all I could see was a white void, endless and mysterious. My imagination ran wild with what might hide within. My eyes played tricks on me; shapes formed and dissipated. Did I see something moving in the abyss?
