The Villain
NAPOWRIMO 2023

A cold war rages between us — Your icy shoulders and frozen stares belie the anger simmering within — A dreadful silence screams at me and I know from past encounters one false move on my part could have deadly consequences — an untamable eruption of vileness aimed straight at my psyche and heart
All I ask for is the same respect I show you — Up go ice walls miles thick an impenetrable force that love cannot cross — You take it as a dagger to your heart as though I intentionally wounded you — Your fragile ego refuses to see reason no amount of forgiveness will be uttered from those frosty, pursed lips nor love shown from your icebound heart
How did I become the villain when you committed the offense?
