The year 2020 brought groups of people to the Capitol steps at various times. It was a place for people to congregate to make their feelings known about certain issues. There were Black Lives Matter demonstrations after the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis by a white police officer.

Donald Trump has a lot of supporters in Utah. The Trump flags are not in view now, but they have been prominent in the past. There were protests at the state Capitol by MAGA people who were showing that they followed Trump in his attempts to overturn the election results. They believe him when he says the election was stolen from him. He and other Republicans won in Utah, but they won’t accept the results of some other states even with Republican leaders who won in spite of Trump losing there.

The Utah Capitol steps are mostly empty of big crowds now. There are people going to the area to look at the beautiful cherry blossoms as the spring weather has arrived. The protests have stopped for the time being, but they could start up again at any time.

This life is full of turmoil. The peace and tranquility does not last when people become upset over such things as racism, politics, immigration, gun control, and any matter of topics.

The world needs more love and compassion.
