PHOTOGRAPHY, COLLECTING SMILES, NOVEMBER PROMPT

The Unlimited Power and Extraordinary Beauty Of The Sun

November Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Collecting Smiles”

Beauty, wonder, and awe, generating smiles.

Stopped at a red light, I could have been annoyed and impatient. Instead, I looked around. What I saw was an extraordinary sunset crisscrossed by powerlines. I smiled.

Seeing two distinct sources of power framed in front of me, I wondered how much of the sun’s power we currently harness? How could we harness more? What impact would this have? How and where was the power being delivered by those lines generated? Questions flooded my mind from so many directions — the limited nature of environmental resources, climate change, and responsibilities on a global and individual level. I considered the duality of the unlimited power and extraordinary beauty of the sun. I smiled.

The stripes of blue, pink, and orange were shifting like there was an artist layering brushstrokes, creating a masterpiece, right in front of me. The wonders were pushed away and awe took over. I smiled.

Then, the light still hadn’t turned and I wanted to see the photo. I immediately noticed the black shadow across the top right corner. The window frame or my finger, again. Instead of scrapping these “mistakes” with a black shadow, maybe I should just call that my unique signature. I smiled again.

Thanks for reading! I hope everyone finds reasons all around them to smile, smile, and smile some more!
