Summer Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Shine!”

I found you in three pieces.

I never know what I’ll come across on my haunts through the neighborhood. Even more thrilling is the fact that this is a new neighborhood for me, filled with never before seen magic.

Even though it’s been strikingly hot as of late, I decided to venture out. We live nearby a large cemetery that is an oasis, not only for the resting souls but also for people like me, who enjoy quiet strolls between tombstones punctured only by the cawing of crows and the screeching of magpies.

When I was nearing the end of my walk, I noticed a broken statue next to one of the tombstones. Something prompted me to kneel and investigate.

It was a cherub, broken into three pieces. I like puzzles and putting things together, so I fit the fractured pieces into place and snapped this pic.

Do you see my smiling reflection in the shiny marble of the tombstone? I’m delighted to capture the light rainbow framing the cherub.

My mother, sister, and I attended our first family counseling session yesterday. Just like the cherub, ours is a broken relationship. Maybe putting the angel back together is a sign of things to come. Thank you, Universe.

Much gratitude to Mary Chang Story Writer for the inspiration.
