The Universe Speaks to Me Via YouTube
And no, I’m not kidding.

Not too long ago I shut down all my social media. What there was of it anyway. No more Twitter. I deleted all my YouTube videos. I had the bones of a podcast I had just set up and never got a chance to use. I’ve left it there as a ‘just in case’.
You see, my health has not been that great of late. I’ve been on a slow downward slide for the last two-plus years. On days like today, I feel well enough to write. Other days? Let’s just say I’m glad breathing is automatic. So far today I’ve pitched to one ezine on Medium, received an invitation to write for another, and am about to pitch yet a third ezine. Not bad for someone who only a few days ago had to sleep after writing a title.
But I digress but it does tie in. One of my recent setbacks came from the side effects of a new medication. I had forgotten (that happens a lot) that the PCP had told me that these issues could rear their ugly heads. While cruising through YT as that’s all I could manage to do that day, from out of nowhere this doctor whom I had never heard of before popped up in my suggested videos to watch. Guess what her 6-month old video was about? The side effects of the very medication that I had just started taking. I stopped it that day and made the call to have something different prescribed.
I was missing the Young and the Restless one day and wished that I could have some faux drama to entertain me instead of the real drama on the daily news 24/7. My suggested videos showed this one dude who looked cool and had a catchy title. So yeah, I clicked. I had hit the TY lottery! Now I know more than I ever wanted to about Jeffree Star, Shawn Dawson, James Charles, and Tati. I really should send a thank you note to D’Angelo Wallace for that.
Until COVID hit I was, in increments but still, moving forward with my plans to become a full-time traveler. That’s the beauty of being retired at 55. I had my heart set on a 4x4 retired ambulance for a multitude of reasons. But then all kinds of rigs started showing up YT. Cargo vans, bread delivery trucks, passenger vans, you name it. But what caught my eye was the camper vans. We had one when I was a kid. I had forgotten all about it. So, I began my binge-watching again.
Who knows? Maybe the universe has been speaking to me for years, but I was just too busy to hear it. Now that the most strenuous thing I do all day is inhale, exhale. I am still long enough and quiet long enough to hear what’s being said. The Universe is speaking to me in a language I can understand.
Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go tune in to the Universe to see what it has to tell me today.
