The Universe Is Music
A poem
A calm silence over dark and empty waters No waves, no motion, no light, no voices No pain — or love An eternal expanse of infinite stillness
Then, a note — A low tone rumbling from the depths Surging, bubbling towards the surface And growing ever louder
A flash — Sparks explode from crashing waves And into floating dust it settles Each mote a singing, dancing planet
Then — The cosmos Ebbing, flowing, resonating like string The Universe is music.
This is the first poem of my next poetry project — a full-sized poetry book with “the universe is music” as its central metaphor.
I already have a smaller poetry chapbook available here.
