Poetry Potion
The underworld restlessly sings a melody of hunger, the living dead seeking flesh and fresh blood.
Crypts awaken and shake, shadows dancing, the moon hauntingly gazing, and the pack of lycanthrope howling and cheering as the devil’s hour is nearing.
The ghost-grey mist rolls in, noiseless and bloodless, shuffling over dead chaff, the cave’s threshold veiled in the mist, isolated by the water’s edge, the place no one dares go, people once visited, entering but never returning home, among the dead, roaming somewhere.
Tales of fear remain, even, after many years; then I hear whispering from the burrow, sulfur eyes glowing in the darkness, staring and stalking at every bend as I scour for a way out — now at zero hour.
A sudden chilliness befalls, the whispering ceasing, trees rustling, no winds blowing, clouds shrouding the night skies, rattling chains echoing nearby, something approaching and closing, pitch dark and filled with fright, the stepping slowing with drizzles falling, the fear is mind-blowing.
Suddenly! A muttering and nibbling on my ear, smelling of death in the air, and I hear her voice.
You are my evening feast, here for me to eat, come, my dear. I am hungry and thirsty. Fresh flesh and blood, I must devour. Bon appétit!
On all fours, I run, howling like a wolf. Am I just one of them, I fear?
I do not usually tag. But I thought I would highlight some writers who have entertained me with their creative and imaginative stories and poetry and may be interested in this challenge. There are plenty of other writers I enjoy reading, of course:
Deb Palmer Toni The Talker Hollie Petit, Ph.D. Charlotte Ella King Carlo Zeno Nour Boustani Misbah Sheikh Lu Skerdoo Kimmy Foulds TzeLin Sam B.R. Shenoy Monoreena Acharjee Majumdar Britt H. Leah Lynch Willow Reed Alexander Semenyuk Benighted John O'Neill Ella Read
