Summary

Zombie-ing is a frustrating dating trend where individuals who previously ghosted someone reappear and attempt to restart the relationship, causing confusion and emotional distress.

Abstract

The concept of "zombie-ing" in dating refers to the unsettling practice of a person who had abruptly ceased communication (ghosted) with someone, only to re-emerge later as if nothing had happened. This trend is seen as detrimental to romantic relationships as it reopens old wounds, disrupts the healing process, and disrespects personal boundaries. The article emphasizes the emotional toll this behavior takes on the person being zombied, as it can lead to a cycle of hope and disappointment, making it difficult for them to move on. The author argues for the end of this trend, advocating for respect and consideration in dating interactions.

Dating has become increasingly complex over the years, with the rise of technology and the plethora of ways to connect with people. However, with every new advancement, there comes a new dating trend, and one such trend to hit the scene is “zombie-ing.”

And you can take it quite literally- someone you thought was completely dead and gone suddenly comes back to life and tries to rekindle things with you. It’s simple, they ghosted you and out of the blue they resurface and decide to re-insert themselves in your life starting with a casual text or phone call like nothing has happened. It’s like they’ve risen from the dead, hence the befitting name.

Why is this such a bad thing, you might ask?

Well, for starters, it can be incredibly confusing and can leave the person on the receiving end feeling hurt. Just imagine moving on from someone who ghosted you and cut off all communications, and then suddenly receiving a message from them months later, acting like nothing ever happened.

It becomes emotionally taxing and can be a major setback for someone who’s trying to move forward. Plus, it’s disrespectful, presumptuous, inconsiderate, selfish, egotistical…well, you get the picture.

Zombie-ing needs to stop because apart from taking away the room the ghosted needs to get closure, it show a total disregard for boundries. It’s not fair to the person on the receiving end and is ultimately a waste of everyone’s time. We should put an end to this trend and focus on treating people with the respect and dignity they deserve.

I vote the dead stay dead.
