The Ultimate Test of Faith

Have you lost your faith in God?

“Let your life reflect the faith you have in God. Fear nothing and pray about everything. Be strong, trust God’s word, and trust the process.” (Germany Kent, Goodreads)

The current pandemic has shown us ruthless signs of dystopia, and one way or the other, we have questioned God, The Holy Father. Has your faith in God depreciated? Do you still think God lives? Do you still believe He never sleeps? In my opinion, I think this is a test of faith. A test to prove the love you claim to have for God.

Just about a year ago, I lived my daily life; studying and preparing for unscheduled examinations — the streets were busy and businesses were yielding. The churches were open and every Sunday God gifted me with a new day and a new week, I would be glad to praise His name in His Holy House.

It’s no doubt — the change the pandemic has brought upon earth is grave. No one can foresee when it will be totally wiped off the face of the earth. But has your faith ever wavered? Do you still pray? Do you still have hope for our world?

People are sick, people are dying and most jobs have been lost, but is that all you can see? At first, I thought the disease only led to malevolent occurrences but one thing is always stuck at the back of my mind — constantly reminding me whenever I have the anxiety to doubt God.

“I am still alive in the land of the living.”

The reason you are able to read this story is because you are still a breathing soul. God has left you untouched — not because of your perfection, your radiating beauty, or because you’re immune to any disease, but because of his unending grace.

People die everyday; it could be by accident or even after a goodnight’s rest. Yet, you are guided by His shield. Now ask yourself, “Is the pandemic enough to completely lose faith in God?”

Days are passing by and slowly my fellow Christians are losing hope — I want to use this article as a means to reach out to the followers of Christ, because faith doesn’t just come — we build it in our minds. Here are a few ways to strengthen your faith in God:

Never forget to pray

Christ told us — prayer is the key, and day by day I keep seeing how much His words speak truth. Prayer is not just about kneeling and speaking to God; you have to completely open your mind and let His aura fill your surroundings. I tell you, the moment you speak to God with a mind only focused on Him, then you’ll truly be able to feel His presence.

Prayers aren’t always said — they can also be written; try to keep a journal to write letters to God. This writing method doesn’t only build your faith — it also leads to positivity in spirit.

Remember His words

Most Christians deal with doubt, what brings them back to God is that they’re able to remember His words (The Gospel). That Bible you kept in a dark and dusty room should be brought out — reading the Bible helps with the sustenance of one’s Christian faith, because His words has never lied.

“Have faith in God.” (Mark 11:22, KJV)

Listening to gospel praise and worship songs can truly be helpful. They say he who sings — prays twice. Pour out your heart’s content into your hymn and always remember that God is your refuge and your fortress.

Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. (Psalm 62:8, KJV)

Give thanks

As a Christian, do you still remember to give thanks to The Almighty? Giving thanks to God is not about saying “Thank you Jesus!”, as a matter of fact, It is a whole lot more than that.

Try this — instead of complaining about the pandemic; appreciate Him for keeping you alive, remember that you still have eyes which you can see with right now. Give Him thanks with zeal because anyone who sings praises of thanksgiving to God — is completely worthy of His name.

The importance of thanking God is as important as our existence; when God made us, He wanted us to know Him, to love Him, to serve Him, and to be happy with Him forever in heaven. Are you fulfilling the purpose of why God made you?

Note that the more you do things that bring you closer to God, the more your faith rises.

Finally, faith is not a religion; in fact it is the degree of how much a Christian truly loves God. In hard times, faith should be what keeps you going — that constant trust will sustain your hope in God. You shouldn’t be discouraged — rather make a name for the moment.

The pandemic may somehow be a way you can connect with family, amend broken relationships and even get closer to God. Not being able to go to church shouldn’t be a reason to stop worshipping Him — create an altar and carry on with your worship.

I truly hope that your Christian faith finds a way to be restored again.
