The Ultimate Reason I’m Thrilled To Join Tony Robbins’ UPW Program
Tony Robbins runs the Unleash The Power Within Program multiple times every year.
In 2019, I registered for the event in Singapore. Unfortunately, due to some professional commitments, I couldn’t join the program. When I saw the program happening again this year, I kept on asking myself whether I should invest in it or not.
There are a couple of reasons to say yes to that question.
To make mental breakthroughs and get rid of mental blocks
It’s a highly recommended program for personal development & growth. The program is particularly good in identifying underlying motivations and fixing mental blocks. In 2016, I had some breakthroughs that allowed me to become a better person. I am once again intrigued to have similar breakthroughs again. As Actor Hugh Jackman said on UPW,
“ I had some kind of wound or damage that would frame my entire life and the decisions I made. Tony was like if you continue to tell that story to yourself, it will continue to be true. But it doesn’t have to like that way.”
Pretty amazing, right?
To continue my journey on the path of continuous improvement
I have also identified a handful of areas where I need to improve. Currently, I am at a stage of life where I need to take the biggest strides towards growth. This program seems like a good option to take those strides.
I am a big fan and advocate of continuous improvement. You don’t become muscular by going to the gym once. Similarly, you’d only grow if you continue working on one area.
But ultimately, it boiled down to one principle I have been following for a while. A principle that has given me dividends and made me a better person.
Pay Yourself First — Your Debts & Bills Can Wait
Paying yourself first is an intriguing concept that sounds great on paper but is often difficult to implement. Bills, debt, and other engagements often get in the way. And as a result, our personal & financial growth suffer.
It’s easier to focus on the present and the past — by handling current expenses, rent, debt, and bills. These are more tangible and they come with a deadline. Building a financial future is also tangible but with a more relaxed timeline (If you are building a retirement fund). But investing in you so that you can grow is the vaguest of them all.
How do you know the option you choose for financial growth is the right path? Yes, reviews may help. But there’s no one size that fits all. Some courses or books will work for you when the others will seem like a waste of time.
Ultimately, you’d realize that continuous improvement is about believing in yourself, taking a leap of faith, being strongly committed, and taking massive actions.
Last year, I took the conscious decision to start investing money and time in my personal growth. To counter the disappointment of not finding the right content, I also lowered my expectations. I knew that not all resources would be equally useful for me. My approach was to take each of them as experiments and eventually improve my ability to find better resources.

I initially went in with the expectation of learning only one new thing from one resource. I’d be happy if I met that expectation. Along the way, I realized some of those materials can create breakthrough moments as well. Those were moments when you realize what had been holding you back and how your new learning can help you let go.
For my future growth enablers, I’d be happy if they expose me to more than average learnings and breakthroughs. Although I know I’d sometimes stumble onto materials that won’t work for me, I’ve learned to accept that. As long as I keep at it, I’d be able to become a better person gradually.
Considering that mindset, Tony Robbins’ Unleash The Power Within makes perfect sense (Even if it’ll happen in the middle of the night in my timezone)
To summarize
Pay yourself first to build a wonderful future, and create a sense of purpose. Your growth journey would obviously not be straight as an arrow. But as long as you keep moving forward, you should be ok.
