The Ugly Truth of America
What they want us to forget.
Every time I hear our so called President say let’s make America great again; I wonder what is so great about it. Because America has only been great for certain people.
There has never been a time in American history when everyone has been treated equally. You would think by now they would have finally started treating everyone fairly, but still people of color are being killed for no reason.
It all started because of slavery.
The worst genocide ever
When millions of African people were taken from their homelands, and they were brought here like property. They were brought here to do the work that the leaders of America were too lazy to do.
They were treated like gum on the back of your shoe. Slavery was so much worse than they made it seem like when we were in school.
Slave owners would rape, kill, and beat the living crap out of the slaves. It is so sad that people really could commit such atrocities. It is even sadder that people say we should just get over it.
How can we get over something when we are still facing the effects of slavery?
People of color are still getting killed every day by police, and we cannot even get simple justice.
We just want to be treated equally is that too much to ask.
Also, people seem to overlook the fact that America still has a form of slavery which is the prison system. I understand that some people should be in prison.
However, it makes no sense that 70% of the people in prison are people of color. When we only make up, 13% of the population in America.

Why we cannot forget our history?

One big problem in America is that people never want to take responsibility for their actions. The past can’t be changed, but there are so many things that could be done to make America equal for everyone.
People of color only want simple things that everyone else has in America. We want to be treated like normal human beings.
We want to be able to get stopped by the police, and not have to worry about dying or not. We want to be able to sleep in our houses, and not be shot because the police came to the wrong house. [Justice for Breonna Taylor]
We do not even want revenge for anything. We just want to able to live in peace.
The world is in straight chaos right now, but I’m optimistic that America will get better one day. Hopefully, we are all alive to see it.
We all have to come together, so we can be a better nation. We have to be accepting of everyone because it is no reason to hate someone just because of the color of their skin.
We all have to start being better people, and it starts today.
