The U.S. Senator Who Gave The Republican Rebuttal
Katie Britt Is Now Known
She gave the Republican rebuttal to President Biden’s Speech.
The Republican Party must have wanted to make the junior Senator from Alabama known. She has been mentioned as a future leader within the Republican Party. It is likely that not many people had heard her name before she was chosen to give the Republican response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address.
The rebuttal speech was staged in her kitchen in Alabama where she said she watched. She stated that her most important role is as a wife and mother. She has received criticism for the staging and the speech, which speechwriters must have written for her. It would have had to be approved by certain Republican leaders ahead of time.
It was also speculated that she was chosen because of her young age in comparison to Biden, who has been criticized as being too old. Trump is almost as old, but the Republicans are supporting him even though there had been younger qualified candidates in the race.
Katie Britt may have been like Mike Johnson, who was little known before he became Speaker of the House. Now they are both in the news.
The Alabama Senator told about how bad the economy is for people in the United States. She tried to place herself in with those who are perhaps suffering financially. She is a lawyer and a politician. According to reports, she and her husband have a net worth of over $5 million combined (which may or may not be correct).
Britt has been called out for the misleading use of a sex abuse victim’s story which she recounted in her speech. The anecdote Britt used on sex trafficking attacked President Biden’s record on border security. Fact checkers have indicated that the attacks which Britt said happened in the United States more recently actually took place in Mexico between 2004 and 2008 during the Presidency of George W. Bush.
The response by Britt also criticized Biden as being diminished.
Biden’s age and fitness are concerns of the voting public, but the choice will be between experience and other qualifications since the presumptive opponents are both advanced in years.
