I stared into the light with darkness in my eyes, is this the reason why I despised the sight I saw? How could I look towards the future when in the present, I was stuck in the past? They claimed to love me but they didn’t love themselves, I questioned their logic and they said it’s irrefutable. And I said, well, let’s trade shoes, so your smooth jazz can quickly turn into the Blues. We all weren’t born within a privileged life, where choosing to eat, or pay bills will never be a reality. Where you’re not deemed unqualified based solely on the color of your skin, where you’re not deemed aggressive because you refuse to remain silent, where you’re not deemed as a threat simply because you attempt to live and not just exist. See, I have a right to be stressed because though I have less, I hunger for more, but my appetite is suppressed because I’m expected to be happy with crumbs. I won’t apologize for using my gift to uplift myself out of my unwanted condition, and shame on those who make trying to stop me their primary mission. You can call me what you will, but one thing you won’t be able to call me is lazy because I’m forever standing still. No Sir. I’ll be moving like the hands of time, guided now by a strategic mind, so there’s no way your darkness will ever be able to block my shine. Seek and ye shall find, the truth within the lie created by design, and to keep all those not apart of the secret society, mentally blind.
