(With apologies to T.S. Eliot)

Let us go then, you and I,

Where Fox News spreads its endless lies,

To an audience steeped in fable-

Gleeful hosts beam diet stable.

Election deniers spread “facts” untruthful-

Uncounted Trump votes by the roomful?

Phantom plots spawn deadly riots,

Threatening order at the highest.

Bigots rant of critical race thoughts,

Warn of phony gender change plots.

Vicious dog whistles push race baiting.

But who’s to care? It boosts the ratings!

Ballots elected President Biden

But now the gaping split has widened.

Raging Trumpkins scream for arson,

Blindly follow Tucker Carlson.

Provoking them to dutifully question

Results no Judge found facts to threaten.

As Fall turns to icy Winter,

MAGA types lean in on Twitter.

Scanning Musk’s internet trigger,

Election doubters longing linger

To learn if Donald points a finger.

What plan drives Trump to pose presidential

Hiding boxes confidential?

He stalks the halls of Mar ‘a Lago….

And wary eyes a young Iago

For lo, within a drowned Atlantis

Waits a hibernating DiSantis.

Set to retire the Orange ghost

With scads of Electoral College votes.

Crying wild of immigrants rampant

DeSantis imposes winged encampment.

The poor and weak from struggling nations,

Kidnapped North to Dem locations.

Now he targets vaccines’ success

While Florida’s hurricane repair’s a mess

The campaign of Governor DeZaster’s a full court press

A steady beat of fear and doom

Flows from acid radio goons.

Repeating lie on lie incredulously

To rally bitter white supremacy.

FCC should sue redneck racists

Masquerading as “freedom” theorists.

Somewhere Hitler smiles in recognition

His Nazi lies and master races

Live on in rabid talk show interfaces.

But holidays have set thoughts adrift

With dreams of childhood games and gifts.

Amid recall of family joys,

We seek a respite from right wing noise.

With cautious hope a Yuletide peaceful

Brings more of Good and less of Evil.
