The Transitional Hour

The window between life and death

Van Gogh Highway. Photo and edit by Mark Tulin

In between life and death, there is a hopeful glow, a narrow window of opportunity that allows us to untie the knot.

It reveals what is imminent; the end of a long journey, to prepare the itinerary for that one ultimate trip.

It is a chance at harmony, to heal troubled relationships, to gently release our mortal attachments.

It is a convenient time to say our goodbyes, not only to friends and family but to the sun and the moon.

We achieve much wisdom in this transitional hour, embracing the light of death, and leave the living behind.

We relinquish our caretaking for those too needy to tend, and complete our mission, moving through space and time.
