The Tragic Incident Made Me Believe That Life is So Uncertain
Afterall life is a journey not a destination
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like." - Lao Tzu
I recently went to the hospital with my father since he was experiencing chest pains close to his heart. In addition, he complained of having back trouble. I thus went to the hospital to have him examined.
The hospital was already extremely busy with patients when I arrived. Hence, the receptionist informed me that you must wait a while before your turn. So they pointed us in the direction of the ICU’s nearby waiting room.
My father and I waited there with patience. Suddenly, a few individuals carrying a patient hurry into the intensive care unit. In order to give the patients the early care they needed, nurses were also running from place to place. The patient was an older uncle who was between 70 and 75 years old. The doctor entered the intensive care unit (ICU) after a short while, and the patient’s daughter emerged from there after another brief interval and began to sob hard. From the waiting room, I could see everything.
After some time, the nurse called to say that it was now my turn and that I should proceed to the doctor’s cabin. So, my father and I went to the doctor’s cabin. The son of that uncle also entered the doctor’s cabin shortly after I did, without my notice, and began questioning him about his father’s whereabouts.
He said that his father was OK and was on his way to the market on a two-wheeler when they received a call from a stranger informing them that your uncle was laying unconscious nearby. So we drove there and brought him here. Please explain what happened in detail.
The doctor declared that he was no more. Due to the severity of the heart attack, he passed away on the spot. My father and I were there, listening to the entire discussion.
The patient’s son left the doctor’s cabin after that. My father was examined by the doctor, who also recommended several tests. We went to the lab and completed all the tests.
As I made my way back home, the incident kept coming to mind. I was wondering how life could be so unpredictable that you may lose someone very important to you in a matter of seconds.
Uncertanity of Life & Death
Life and death are both affected by several incidents that are out of our control such as accidents, illness and natural disaters. We may take steps to reduce the risk but at the end nothing is in our hand. We don’t born by knowing how much time do we have to live this life.
So, what is in our hands?
We are here to live and believe. On the other side, we all waste so much time on so many things in life. However, we all take life for granted. Life is meant to be lived fully. It is okay if you won’t be able to live a long life, as you have lived it from the depths.
