The Topics My Clients Pay Me To Write About

Interesting learnings from selling $1k of articles

Apart from the one person that messaged me going:

“Bruh, you don’t even have 1k followers!”

Most people who get in touch with me on Fiverr typically straight up ask me to write three or five articles for them. I just sold 10 to the same guy this weekend.

It’s a bit higher than that these days

There are a million posts about making money and freelancing so I won’t bore you with one of those (I simply provide a link in my profile), I thought you’d be more interested in exactly what these people are asking me to write about.

Of my 37 orders, the posts fall into these categories:

Blockchain

A couple of my clients request series about their cryptocurrency projects and I predict this category will continue to grow and possibly become my best seller, to the point whereby I might create a specific gig for this niche.

Typically these types of articles will be about a real-world problem solved by a blockchain-based token.

Technology

These articles tend to be about either new products or existing technology platforms that people could use. For instance, I’ve recently done ones about email platform GetResponse and another about Discord the community app.

Health

You guessed it, lots of stuff related to coronavirus in here, like Vitamin D, Zinc, Magnesium, and other things that benefit the immune system.

I like these articles most when I get to learn something new, like a series about Acupuncture and Gua Sha.

Business

Typically these are related to the current socio-economic crisis and how we can adapt to overcome it. The learning here is that startups and more agile businesses are better able to overcome the horrors of modern business.

Self-Help

Almost always business or mindset related, these posts are about self-improvement so that you can earn more, be more successful, and lord it over your mates. Some of the clients genuinely want to help their audience which is nice, but others simply think these types of posts will do well stats-wise.

Marketing

Almost always SEO-related, marketing posts are typically “how tos” and “did you knows”. I find these posts very easy as I’ve been in the sector for over a decade so these represent the best time to value for me as I can knock them out like no one's business.

Have you noticed that there’s nothing about Writing itself?

That’s the first thing I notice when I look at this. Medium is chock-full of posts about writing, but it isn’t what people are willing to pay for.

What are your thoughts on this? Mine are that perhaps it is easier to create value in the topics above, where people are more likely to learn something new.
