The Top Three Motivational Speakers
To Energize You for a Great 2022

I appreciate all those who write great motivational articles on Medium, and I appreciate people who read mine. However, there is something to be said about hearing the words spoken, especially when the speaker comes with such great passion and conviction.
I have comprised a list of the top three motivational speakers, with a link to each to get you going down an energetic path of greatness.
Les Brown
I started watching Les Brown on the Public Broadcast Station as a child. Although I didn’t understand everything he was saying, he held my attention as I watched with my mom.
Now, as an adult, I understand that I was captured, and continue to be captured, by Les Brown’s eloquent blend of God, humor, and wisdom as he transparently delivers his story and teaches important life principles. I love his delivery. I am moved every time I listen to him as he talks about the defeats and triumphs of his life and then inspires me with scripture and motivational messages. It is like listening to a real-life Bible character tell you his story and what you are to learn from it rather than reading the character’s story and having to glean the wisdom yourself.
Les Brown discusses how he was born on the floor of an abandoned building and was declared the “dumb twin.” He discusses how he was fired from jobs but had a belief that allowed him to continue pursuing the unthinkable for an “educable mentally retarded” person — from becoming a radio disc jockey to becoming a member of the Ohio House of Representatives to becoming a world-renowned motivational speaker.

Eric Thomas, E.T. The Hip-Hop Preacher
Eric Thomas has become a well-known motivational speaker, especially with athletes and those who identify with the hip-hop culture.
Eric Thomas speaks with such conviction and determination. He is a man of no excuses and empowers his audience to be the same. He is a man of great energy, determination, and grit. Often his speeches are set to music that gives even greater energy. This is the type of motivational speaker you want to hear while you work out, on those days where it is hard to get out of bed, or when experiencing a lackadaisical, lethargic mood.
Eric Thomas is a high school dropout who went from homelessness to earning a Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. while becoming one of the most sought-after motivational speakers in the world — from community centers to NFL locker rooms.
Side Note: One thing Eric Thomas and Les Brown have in common is that they were both “side” guys on a job and took advantage of an opportunity when the person hired to do the job didn’t show up. Eric and Les each took advantage of the opportunity and the rest his his-story.

Lisa Nichols
Lisa Nichols is a best-selling author, including co-author of The Secret, a famous book about the power of mindset and energy transfer (law of attraction). As an interesting, personal point, when I discovered and read The Secret in 2015, I was particularly moved by the messages Lisa Nichols contributed. At that time, I was holding on to a copy of Essence magazine that was helpful to me, particularly an article about moving on. I happened to reread the article one day and noticed it was written by Lisa Nichols. Then I saw Lisa Nichols on The Steve Harvey Show. I obviously had an energy for Lisa Nichols, it seems, because I kept drawing her to me.
Lisa Nichols’ delivery is not as high-energy as the aforementioned speakers, but the conviction and passion are still there. Her messages have given me life affirmations and mindsets to carry me forward. For example, giving myself 999 chances, and when I get to 1,000, I press reset. Hm! Lisa Nichols also taught me the power of reciting “I am” statements out loud.
In her messages, Lisa Nichols talks about being diagnosed with depression, failing English and being told she was not good enough, and not having enough money to buy her baby diapers. Yet, she became one of the most prominent speakers, securing authorship in The Secret and a seat on The Oprah Winfrey Show among other great platforms.

Bonus: Steve Harvey
If you don’t know who Steve Harvey is then I believe you live under a rock. It is almost impossible not to know who he is. You either know Steve from stand-up comedy or hosting Showtime at the Apollo, Family Feud, The Miss Universe pageant, or his daytime talk show.
No matter where Steve Harvey is or what he is doing, he will always provide an encouraging, motivational word. I first noticed this when I was at the Essence Festival in 2015. Steve was supposed to be interviewed but he took over and just started speaking to the audience. He even showed us the vision board on his phone.
There are YouTube videos of Steve talking to the Family Feud audience or his talk show audience between segments where he provides motivational messages. One of his most famous ones is “Jump.”

Find Your Favorite Speaker
Three of the four links I provided in this article are from Evan Carmichael’s YouTube channel. His Believe Nation has been very beneficial to me. I really enjoy and am motivated by his compilation videos where he does a famous person’s top ten rules of success or a compilation of great messages from a person or on a particular topic.
Evan, by far, has one of the best YouTube channels. I have discovered other great leaders and heard life-changing messages on his channel. He also provides resources, like worksheets, to help you along your journey. I encourage you to visit his channel and find videos that fit your need. I am sure you’ll find something and be encouraged.
