The Time I could Touch the Sun!

Poetry Prompt- First Sunrise

Photo by Saulius Sutkus on Unsplash

I remember that first sunrise

Gazing as the dark still sky

Shimmered and transformed

With a beauty that defied!

The unrelenting darkness lightening

A medley of colors bursting forth

Changing slowly but gorgeously

Joyous and inspirational — both!

My voice rang out happily, arm outstretched

In tune with mama dear

“Hello Sun”, I giggled, I remember.

Childhood- when even stars seem near!

This poem is a response to the fascinating prompt answered by Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她). She has linked the original prompt from a newsletter by Shan (#ShansPoetryPrompt), in her article here:

Feel free to come up with your own responses! Remember- there are no deadlines on this one!
