The time Chris Christie went to the beach and got criticized for it

My parents believe it or not were taking a short trip to the beach that weekend when the incident happened and from what I remember I saw a screenshot and the headline about Chris Christie on the beach and I clicked on the article and read it.
I did not go on the beach trip as I stayed home to take care of our lab Rocky.
But anyways as soon as I started to read some of the article I automatically thought my family’s beach trip could be jeopardized so I mentioned the article to my parents and my dad got upset to the point that my mom was looking at beaches that were closed because of this state government shutdown.
The beaches were shut down due to the governor and the legislature not coming to an agreement on the budget.
The reason for the scrutiny well Christie decided to take his family to a beachside retreat which is part of his perk to being the governor and this beach was closed off to the public as no one could step foot on the beach because of the shutdown.
However since we live in the 2010s someone somewhere is bound to find out about and take some snaps of the governor lounging on a chair on the closed off beach. Which we all know did not do him well as this photo would receive public outcry.
The public outcry of the now infamous photo
After the photo surfaced on the internet the governor did a press conference and he was actually asked if he had gotten any sun and he replied saying he didn’t.
But politicians like Chris Christie to me will always get away with these types of things as even though what he did was wrong he did not break the law and so he will only receive public backlash and the media will feature these stories, but they will always die down in about a week after the event.
Although I might say that after this event I feel he did lose a lot of respect from those who voted for him and this event will never be forgotten and will always be a part of what people will remember him by.
My family was able to take that beach trip.
Even though some of the beaches were shutdown my family was still able to make it to the beach and I did still stay back to take care of our lab Rocky. But even though nothing took a dramatic turn like my family not being able to go to the beach at all.
I will still remember that day because it reminds so much of what a pompous coward the political elite really are including Chris Christie.
I can definitely relate it to a different event in a different state, in which it involved one Texas senator Ted Cruz as he flew his entire family to Cancun while the rest of Texas was dealing with a once in a lifetime ice storm.
Both cases in my opinion show the nature of two big political powers taking advantage and using their advantage to get ahead of everybody else instead of dealing with the issue head on and helping those that got them into those positions in the first place.
At the end of the day they are human beings that are not perfect and will go on to make mistakes.
But there is a huge difference from making a mistake of forgetting to take the garbage out to forgetting that you are on a beach that the public is not allowed to be on because of the government shutdown.
