Summary

The article discusses the alarming trend of seemingly well-adjusted and successful individuals choosing to end their lives, attributing this to the cumulative stressors of recent years, and offers resources and strategies for mental health support.

Abstract

The piece sheds light on a concerning rise in suicides among individuals who outwardly appear successful, well-dressed, and mentally stable. It emphasizes that despite their polished exterior, these individuals are silently grappling with mental health challenges, often exacerbated by the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, economic hardships, and personal losses. The author suggests that societal expectations and the illusion of a perfect life on social media may contribute to the distress of these individuals. It also provides a list of suicide prevention resources, including the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, and promotes activities like prayer, journaling, meditation, and yoga to aid in mental well-being.

The Surprising Segment of the Population That Is Opting to Take Their Own Lives…

Just hold on…it gets better…

I’ve noticed a disturbing phenomenon in recent years.

There are many people opting to take their own lives to escape from what they consider to be a world no longer worth living in.

Sadly, this is becoming a more common occurrence.

And these are not people that you would typically think would do something like this…

I hate to stereotype, but these are not people that seem outwardly mentally disturbed…

Not at all.

Stereotypically speaking, these would be the people that come from a troubled background…

People that may have been abused or that experienced a lot of trauma and possibly struggled with substance abuse.

No, this particular segment of people seems to have it all together (or so it appears).

They present very well.

These people are attractive, well-spoken, well-dressed, and successful individuals.

These are the people you would never suspect are struggling mentally and battling their own inner demons…

Quite the contrary.

And when you see these stories in the news, it stops you in your tracks.

It’s so baffling because they appear to have it all and seem to have a great life.

Lately, it seems to be the ones that really seem to have it all together that are falling victim to this horrible outcome.

Why Are More Seemingly Together People Taking Their Own Lives?

I believe it has a lot to do with all of the hardship and pressures Americans have had to endure in recent years.

We know that the pressure of the Coronavirus pandemic has definitely taken its toll.

So many people have dealt with extreme sickness and the loss of loved ones.

The Coronavirus lockdowns were also extremely trying mentally. There were definitely times when many felt like they were losing it.

And if you didn’t lose a loved one to death, many lost relationships crumbled under pressure.

And we all know the Corona fallout has been extreme inflation and rising food and gas prices.

It’s a wonder that any of us made it through…

How Can We Combat This Issue?

Tune in to how you’re feeling.

Are you stressed or anxious?

Do you feel overwhelmed?

If so, take some time off from work and go within to get your mental health back in check.

It’s also extremely important to check in on friends and loved ones to be sure that they are doing okay.

Activities such as prayer, journaling, meditation, and yoga can be really helpful.

It’s also really important to talk to your family and friends about how you’re feeling. Positive communication with others really helps to relieve stress.

Remember, you’re not alone in this.

There are many resources out there to help if you’re struggling. I will link some below:

You can also dial 988.

Remember, you matter, and your life is worth living.
