The sun always shines after the rain

Summer Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Shine!”

Gardening teaches you calmness and patience.

My balcony is my favorite place and plants are my loyal friends. Surrounding myself with the plants gives me a sense of peace and a feeling of tranquality.

My morning ritual is getting up from bed and walking to my balcony garden.I bow to the sun and chant my Surya mantra. After chanting the mantra, I thank the Sun God and show gratitude for giving me this life and a new day to live. I have learned this practice from my mother.

For the last few weeks, early morning showers and cloudy weather made me feel sad and tired.

But this morning, when I woke up and walked to the balcony, plants in my garden were busy whispering to each other and dancing in the cool breeze and sunshine. After a week of rain, the sun had finally decided to shower them with beautiful warm sunlight.

It instantly brought a smile to my face, and I felt energetic. I stroked the plants, patted them, spoke to them, wished them, and then decided to enter the kitchen.

While I kept the kettle on the stove for my morning tea, I thought of all the things I needed to do today while the sun was shining.

Make hay while the sun shines! And that is exactly what I planned to do. Instead of getting stuck in the house, I had plans to go for a long walk in the sun and complete a few tasks.

“ When the sun is shining I can do anything; no mountain is too high, no trouble too difficult to overcome.” Wilma Rudolph.
