The Struggle to Set Yourself Free

Words can hurt like a deep flesh wound but more of an ache like the break of a heart

Actions can crush like the jaws of a crocodile but more of a squeeze like a python’s lunch

Before you forgive you are stuck for days or years no room to even lean forward

The memories and pain flashbacks and feelings would eat you alive until you forgave

It’s best not to forget but when you forgive you get more than you give

Forgiveness doesn’t mean everything is okay or take anything away from the point of your pain

Forgiveness means you struggled, you forgave you set yourself free from your hurt and pain
