The Strange Investment With The Biggest Return
Seek the rare ones.
No one rarely mentions this kind of investment because it involves giving something and expecting nothing in return.
Nothing fascinating about that.
And yes, it sounds like another scammy investment, but I promise it’s not and has nothing to do with you joining another shiny object syndrome class or some secret to get you to opt-in to some newsletter.
The Spiritual Investment
Imagine the following Scenarios:
You see and notice some African Americans in your neighborhood who are struggling to get by, and something inside you speaks to you to be the hero.
You decide to invest in their future — a simple gesture of kindness, expecting nothing in return.
As you head your way to the grocery store, a young man who has no shoes passes you by, and that voice inside your head says, “No way don’t do it, you are going to take off your shoes for this person…are you crazy”?
Despite those thoughts trying to close your beautiful heart’s gates, you do it anyway and gift him with your shoes expecting nothing in return.
It has been snowing and freezing outside. An older man pleads with you if he could sleep in the hallway of your company building until the weather gets better. Instead, you extend your kindness and rent him a place, and on top of that, you offer him a job.
(wink, wink, I hope some of you are ACTUALLY going to give this a go, make me proud, of course when you get to that position)
For what? To make you richer, no. You already have enough workers, but you know that compassion is priceless.
I know that some of you, reading this, did something genuine in your life for someone. No strings attached. You did something out of complete compassion, expecting NOTHING in return.
He Cathed You When You Fell
And maybe, one day, you were at the edge of losing someone or yourself to the sea of depression, anxiety, but somehow, you got saved, and your life changed for the better.
Has that ever happen to you?
Life comes with all types of storms. Being saved from those storms is priceless. How much is it worth to you? A million, billion dollars for your life? The gift to be alive?
A prayer of an older man that you protected, maybe?
Maybe the tears that pleaded for your happiness from the guy you gifted him with your shoes, clothes, time, food, or anything that I’ll never know?
The investment you make through compassions aren’t empty, and most certainly not in God’s book.
He’s the Perfect Giver Of Returns
They don’t teach you that in schools, though. It’s always something like this: put this money in this business, stock, course, etc, and hope you get your returns for your investment multiplied someday.
But they never teach you one of the most critical investments, The Strange One. The one where you give sincerely out of love, grace, and compassion to make a difference… expecting zero.
Yet, it triggers avalanches of blessings following you from unexpected sources to all areas of your faith, careers, relationships, and health.
How? Simple. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) may the peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, “Allah said, ‘O son of Adam! Spend, and I shall spend on you.”
The Almighty, The King, The Owner of the universe, The Source of all Richness will spend on you.
Unmatched returns.
Physically, spiritually, emotionally, elevated to heights of success you never thought were possible.
A few days ago, I thought of sending a small gift to my teacher not because I had money laying all-around me…I am not there yet.
I could’ve used the money to feed my kids, but I had to fight the voice in my head that said, “Girl, please save that money for these 8 kids of yours.”
I said, “I am driving my ship. If I choose to take the path of kindness, ain’t no one standing my way, screw you, dear voice”.
I am a weirdo. I talk to myself. Welcome to my world of OCD.
Baammmm Someone Gifted Me $1500
In a matter of days, I got a $1500 gift card to be spent on groceries for my kids.
Strange investment.
I gave it because teachers should be appreciated, celebrated, honored and because I love brightening someone’s day with a gift. I swear to God I wasn’t expecting that I get something from her or something back.
God can’t leave you empty-handed when He is The Most-Generous and especially when He loves those who practice kindness. He makes sure your hands are to receive something far more significant than what you gave.
In a world where most people follow the crowd, I say step up, be different, unique, and be the one who follows and invests in the rare things in life.
