The Story of the Stone

An Inspirational story poem.

There was once a little stone. a part, it was of, of something great. It fell onto a marshy land and lay there unseen to those around.

Day and night stamped upon, it lay there hopeless, drenched in dirt, far away from where it belonged, undiscovered a decade long.

Then came someone to this land. -a brilliant sculptor who works with stones. That day the sun did shine very brightly, revealing the marsh’s hidden beauty.

Suddenly something sparkled below, betraying a brilliance of the rarest kind. The artist could no longer hold himself. Dived he into the dirt right away.

But all he found was a little stone, blackened by years of dust and dirt. With no apparent form of splendor, it surely didn’t seem a piece of wonder.

Yet the wise man took it home; cleaned and polished it day and night. As the stains all went away, the stone began to shine at last.

Lo, the man couldn’t believe his eyes. A diamond it was! of utmost worth! It kept on sparkling in all its brilliance, throwing a myriad of radiant colors.

Now I’m a stone of great renown! - a dazzling beauty in the royal crown! telling the people my humble story of how I became a piece of glory.
