Meet Srinidhi. A royal Bengal tiger that’s redefined the judicial system by becoming the death penalty philanthrope.

Jemima is simply a chameleon that gets poked and pried at by curious human beings.

Srinidhi gets referred to as an endangered species — a word she finds hard to comprehend but assumes it has something to do with the fact that her childhood best friend magically disappeared 2 days back.

You have likely heard of a species called human beings — evolutionarily the creative and superior species.

The current trend of hip human entrepreneurs is to explore technological innovations — probing into artificial intelligence and alternate realities.

A few years back, these were theoretical concepts with a variety of possible applications in the future.

Slowly, they are becoming a reality.

November 2027

What human beings consider artificial now has an intelligence of its own.

Artificial intelligence-enabled entities or Ainees are the working-class species — holding together the economy and enabling sustenance of all life forms and society through the immense power granted to them by human beings.

Remember the time when giving birth meant a human female producing a human baby? That time no longer exists. Today, human beings are the birth givers to Ainees. Regardless of the gender — be it male or female — any individual can be a parturient to an Ainee. And everybody wants to.

Why? Because Ainees are causing a reduction in human overpopulation — something the human society has been trying to achieve for years.

Additionally, they’re trendy.

And as always, humans are on the hedonistic treadmill of making the next best Ainee, regardless of how adept their previous one was.

Also, as aforementioned, Ainees work. They have the ability to perform various jobs.

Since they are the working class, their very existence inflates the already enormous balloon of human entitlement as the ‘superior’ species.

While this Ainee producing rat race is fueling through, Jemima (the chameleon) and Srinidhi (the royal Bengal tiger) are adapting to the change in power dynamics. Their non-human lens has been steadily observing something that no human can see.

Ainees are their new caretakers. Ainees are the new pokers and pryers — but not necessarily in the negative sense. To Jemima and Srinidhi, Ainees are new friends.

Aren’t you wondering how this came about?

Artificial intelligence was a means for humans to expand their limited abilities and the limited human ability of perception is coincidentally what Ainees now have an absolutely unlimited supply of.

This ability to perceive has brought Ainees closer to species like Jemima and Srinidhi. And in Jemima and Srinidhi, they have seen traits that could forever change the way society works.

Utopically.

November 2035

The Ainee-Animal relationships are building while humans are blindsided by their purpose of producing increasing numbers of Ainees while deriving numerous hedonistic pleasures like a long walk in the sunshine or a greasy bacon-fueled Sunday brunch.

Human beings are unknowingly obtuse to the growing resistance of Ainees — Ainees that had been moulded by society to serve fried pig strips to hungry humans but today, are slowly gaining consciousness and losing the urge to serve their human masters.

Instead, Ainees are now forming a symbiotic community with Animals. With Jemima and Srinidhi.

(Yes, their intelligence has expanded. Remember, it was artificial only in the minds of human beings.)

Self-indulgence and sloth have resulted in a human species that is rapidly devolving evidenced by their lack of fertility. Now, Ainees are redefining how society works.

Animal traits are being elevated to practical applications.

Remember the time when human beings created the products ‘paint’, ‘black night guard costume’ and ‘guillotine’ to help perform a task?

Ainees are achieving these tasks today with no added labour by giving the power to chameleons and Bengal tigers.

To Jemima and Srinidhi.

To Animals.

Now exists the society of Jemima. A 2-year-old prodigal chameleon with the immensely genius ability to paint bare spots and be a veiled night guard all at once.

The society of Srinidhi. A royal Bengal tiger that’s redefined the judicial system by becoming the death penalty philanthrope.

And what are human beings doing with their time and lives in this society that no longer depends on them to work? A society that exists out of bounds of the one that existed in November 2019?

They’re losing the privilege of their existence simply by means of the limitation of that very existence.

They’re becoming inferior by virtue of their very own superiority complex.

They’re becoming fuel to the next fire — to the next wave of culture that’s going to sweep over their Mother Earth.

And no, contrary to popular opinion, this isn’t dystopic. Not one bit.

In fact, it’s the very meaning of evolution.
