As the largest and oldest manmade monolith statue, it's fair to say that the Sphinx is a grand old dame in a class all of her own.
Yes, I’m calling the Great Sphinx of Giza she, even though her gender has been speculated on for years.
When I first saw a picture of the Great Sphinx as a child, I thought she was female. Nothing I saw when I visited her changed my mind.
Sometimes, first impressions are correct. In this case, I’m sticking with mine.
