A Poem

The sounds are so loud in my head that it’s hard to distinguish the difference between ambient and amplified levels of noise as my mind runneth amok down rabbit holes and into wind turbines that speed up my thought bubbles and send them flying into a whirlwind while I sit staring at a wall wondering where the sound is coming from

The sounds are so loud in the world that a simple walk is deafening even when no one is talking because I can hear all of us thinking and wondering if this is it A new way of life, sound blasted with hellish silence on undeaf ears and all of us looking around to see where the noise is coming from

The sounds are so loud as they wash ashore and tip my toes, this fictional ocean that I created to wash away all the noise fermenting inside of my head, crashing waves down on me while I allow myself to be pulled far out to sea, a distant buoy just trying to drown out the sound
