The Soul of Silence
Things said and unsaid — a poem
There are words,
to ask, to tell, how do you do,
how are you?
Though,
no one wants to know,
so those words
better not said,
yes, how you are actually feeling!!
There are no words,
to say, no words to listen to
as sometimes silence is the only way
to ask, to tell,
what you really want to know
yes, how you are feeling!!
Actually, words are there,
but they remain inside
pure, and pavan
untouched by the voice,
like the glow of a diya,
a flame in a temple
no word can be uttered to disturb it
no one asks you
that how you are!!
These words, spoken or unspoken
are understood, by the chosen few
the warmth, the glow, reaching
from one heart to the other,
while no one has spoken
no one has heard,
but still the heart knows
how you are !!
The song I sometimes think of when I am immersed in silence is from Anupama (1966), an old Black and White movie
Kuch dil ne kaha, kuch bhi nahi, kuch dil ne suna, kuch bhi nahi!
Something the heart said, nothing,
something that the heart heard, nothing!
