The Solutions to The World’s Most Asked Questions
We definitely at some point in our life googled about these things.

Ever thought about what remains the most searched questions on the internet?
Certainly, before mankind emerged, the tendency to ask questions existed.
As a curious seeker of knowledge, the potentials of humans as knowledge gatherer, and problem-solvers existed in their genetic model.
Culturally, belonging to the humanoid race, we at intervals have been plagued by unanswerable questions.
Some of them like —
- How do I find an early settlement to a career?
- How do I heal a broken heart?
- How did the universe emerge?
- Why is it difficult to find baby penguins?
- It's difficult to understand how lost ended.
With arrows of questions, lacking answers leave a sensation of incompleteness. At times our understanding strikes a doubt bundling them into question piles.
Isn’t such doubt acts like situational thefts?
Personally, witnessing them deeply inflicted an interrogating tendency in me. Further, shredding the doubts into decoding the answers to the unanswerable questions.
For instance, you may witness that the last phrase of the sentence isn’t marked with a question, yet the understanding gap transforms doubtfulness into questions. Therefore —
What we know defines us as much as what we ask.
So let’s look into the world’s frequently most asked questions.
1. How Can I Get Sleep?
Good sleep is fundamentally important.
It helps you keep at ease, well-balanced, and improve brain functioning. In total, good sleep is a gateway to healthy living.
Some people have no problem falling asleep. To them, it comes fairly easy. However, many others find severe difficulty in falling back to sleep. They further are classified as insomniacs.
Lack of sleep is a cause of concern.
The thought cannot be let simply idle, for in the later stages it may result in creating cracks in life. Overall, your health and well-being in every dimension suffer.
Hence, Poor sleep can have negative effects on many parts of your body and brain, including learning, memory, mood, emotions, and various biological functions.
According to research studies —
Scientists found that 60% of the individuals were found lacking sleep.
The reasons assigned may range from tiny to being fairly large.
Some of them like — stress, tension, anxiety, boredom, depression, procrastination, and being overtly overburdened. Certain conditions like addiction to caffeine, or eating junks during odd hours (fairly at night) increases sleep-onset insomnia.
Certainly, experiencing insomnia at higher levels, I can deeply conclude about its negative bearing sides. Not only, it keeps you awake all time long, but also leads you on the verge of procrastinating and doubting your existence. This is incredibly unhealthy.
How to avoid lacking sleep?
Your body has its regulatory system called the circadian rhythm. This internal clock cues your body to feel alert during the day and feel sleepy at the night.
To say, an optimal sleep duration for adults should be around 7 to 9 hours each night. Once your body adjusts to this schedule, it’s easier to fall asleep and wake up around the same time every day.
Hence, waking up and sleeping at night, similar times each day, adjusts the biological clock accordingly. Thereby, helping you maintain a regular schedule.
2. How To Get Rid Of Hiccups?
Almost everyone experiences hiccups in their daily lives at one time or another.
While hiccups usually stop by their own within a few minutes, they can be interfering and annoying while eating and talking.
However, if you have chronic hiccups lasting for more than a day or so, visiting a doctor will help diagnose the underlying condition.
On a lighter note, some even identify hiccups as signals of somebody remembering you. While this is an addition to the list of the world’s most asked questions, it answers yet is unfound. Let me know if it’s is true.
Back to hiccups, many people have come up with an endless number of tricks to get rid of them, from drinking water to eating a spoonful of sugar.
But which remedies work?
Causes —
Hiccups occurs when your diaphragm begins to spasm involuntarily.
Your diaphragm is a large muscle that regulates energy exchange — breathe in and breathe out. When it spasms, you inhale suddenly and your vocal cords shut releasing a distinctive sound.
In most cases, they appear and suddenly disappear.
Lifestyle factors that may cause hiccups include —
- Eating in excess or too quickly
- Exposure to temperature changes
- Binging on spices rich foods
- Drinking carbonated drinks
- Emotional rollercoasters — extremely stressed or overly excited.
The above lifestyle patterns interfere as hiccups in our modern-day living.
While this is genetically featured as part of our biological functioning, striking down their frequency of occurrence rests in the lifestyle maintained.
Hiccups Busting Technique —
- Practise Measured Breathing: This is the most commonly adopted practice. Personally, at times when I experience a hiccup, measured breathing helps. By disrupting the respiratory system with slow, measured breathing, one should breathe in for a count of five and out for five. If hiccups even last with the count, extend the count to 10 or 15. This rescues.
- Hold Your Breath: Inhale a large gulp of air and hold it for about 15 to 20 seconds or so, then breathe out slowly. Repeat as necessary. Remember, not to hold your breath beyond seconds, for it chokes the respiratory breathing. Practice it safely.
- Distract Yourself With Something Amazing: Hiccups often slide away on their own, when your focus slightly shifts from concentrating on them. Talk to your family, play a video game, watch TV, fill out a crossword puzzle, or do some calculations in your ahead. Often I resort, to solving crossword puzzles for this remains a great mental engagement to sideline hiccups.
There aren’t many studies evaluating the effectiveness of different hiccup remedies. However, many of them remain backed by anecdotal evidence, like the ones mentioned above.
3. How Many Calories Should I Have In A Day?
Counting calories is essential to weight-balance.
According to science, a calorie is a unit that measures energy. They usually remain as a determinant to measure the energy content of food and averages. To maintain a healthy weight, the calorie count is a must.
Onward, how many calories you need per day depends on various factors. Some of them like, whether you want to maintain, lose, or gain weight, as well as factors such as gender, age, height, current weight, activity levels, and metabolic health.
Studies suggest, the average women need to consume 2000 calories per day to maintain her weight, and 1500 calories per day to lose one pound of weight per week. Meanwhile, the average man requires 2500 calories to maintain, and 2000 calories to lose one pound of weight per week.
Onward, to gain weight, consuming higher calorie intake rules. Whereas, to lose weight, the number of calories leaving your body should be higher than the calorie consumed.
Certainly, I fumble at times in maintaining calorie count.
Thereby, falling prey to unhealthy weight maintenance. Supposed reasons, like — workloads, stress, anxiety, worrisome life adds to negligence. Further, it’s avoidance leads to compiling diseases. Few like, obesity, insomnia, lethargy consumes life, also halts progress.
Hence, to maintain health as our wealthy asset, calorie intake should be monitored. Further, monitoring of calories helps in maintaining energy balance over a long time.
Keep your calories on track.
4. How Much Water Should I Drink In a Day?
Our body is an aqueous solution.
Water thereby remains our body's core chemical component. Hence, water is essential to good health, yet needs vary by individual.
Factors such as your age, weight, dietary patterns, and climatic consumptions all affect your hydrating conditions.
Before jumping on how much water should be consumed, resorting to its benefits will determine our water needs.
Health Benefits Of Water —
Being the principal chemical component, water makes up about 60% of our body weight. Right from every cell, to tissues and organs in our body, water maintains our body systems to function properly.
Hence, our body depends on water to survive. Some of its functionality includes —
- Maintain bodily temperatures
- Lubricates our muscles and joints
- Releases toxins and get rid of wastes
- Protect sensitive tissues
- Supplements with the energy source.
Lack of water results in dehydration — a condition where less of water in your body causes mental fatigue thereby restricting proper body functioning. Even the slightest of its shortage can cause energy loss.
Many-a-times, our hectic work schedules add to less water intake.
For instance, at times overly loaded with work, or simply busy writing, I tend to stretch work hours for longer durations — willingly but majorly out of choice. This interferes with my health, where I remain negligent towards consuming a glass of water.
Fewer times, this schedule also leads to skipping my meals. Trust me, these remain not the healthy attributes. Why? For it can cause issues related to stomach, brain, and improper bodily functioning.
Back to the real question — How much water one should consume in a day?
Every day we consume water and lose it through perspiration and other bowel movements. Replenishing the water lost through food and beverages consumed in your diet can help your body function properly.
The National Academies Of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that adequate daily fluid intake is :
About 11.5 cups (2.7 litres) of fluids per day for a women About 15.5 cups (3.7 litres) of fluids per day for a man.
These recommendations cover fluids from water, other beverages, and food. The 20% of water intakes come regularly from food and the remaining through drinks.
However, drink water when thirsty. Don’t overthink it.
5. Why Is The Sky Blue?
Like most curious people, you probably would have questioned at some point — “Why does the sky appear blue?” Or if you saw a beautiful sunrise or sunset, you might have asked— “Why is the sky red?”
Whatever the questions, it’s obvious that the sky is blue, however, the reasons aren’t. Certainly, of all the colors in a rainbow, why only blue dominates the sky?
The answer can be understood through the concept of Rayleigh scattering.
Our earth’s atmosphere comprises of gases and particles which blankets around it as envelopes. These gases and particles in the Earth’s atmosphere scatter light in all directions. Blue light is scattered most out of all the colors of VIBGYOR (violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red). Since the wavelength of blue light is small as compared to other waves, therefore it travels shortly with higher speed.
This is why we see the sky blue, most of the time.
On a lighter note, I feel the sky is pink.
At times blue. Sometimes pinkish-blue.
6. What Is Love?
Nothing is mysterious, no human relation. Except love.
There has been much speculations about whether love is a choice, is something permanent or fleeting, and whether the love between family members and societal relationships is biologically programmed or culturally doctrined. However, it might differ from person to person and from culture to culture accordingly.
Hence, each of these debates might be correct at some point and someplace.
Psychology keeps the subject of love as a mystery.
Science explains it comprehensively.
Biology mentions it as a strong attraction undergoing hormonal changes.
However, the best explanation is given by Chemistry. Why? Because your heart and mind work interconnected. With your heart sending signals to the mind, you get to know about the chemistry formed and the bond shared.
In a Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare rightly mentions —
“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind.”
Some possible definitions of love include:
- Extreme feelings of attachment, affection, and need.
- A fleeting emotion of likings, care, benevolence, and kindness.
- An emotion of acceptance.
- A willingness to sacrifice. To state, prioritizing another's well-being or happiness above your own.
- Dramatic and quick feelings of respect and attraction.
- Some combination of the above emotions.
Ahead, to some its like life blossomed with roses, for few, it’s about chocolates and candies, for some, it’s about loyalty, for few, it’s about innocence, for some about honesty, but for few about self-love and for many others, it’s about friendship.
To me, it’s about poetry and writings.
Hence, love encompasses a range of strong and positive mental and emotional states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, the deepest interpersonal connection, and to the simplest pleasure. For instance, the love of a mother differs from the love of a spouse, which differs from the love of foods.
In general, love refers to a strong bond of connection and emotional attachment — to self, your passion, goals, or relationships at large.
The Bottom Line
While the questions of curiosity seem limitless, however few of them have been repeatedly asked globally. Also, largely discussed.
Effective questioning brings insight, which fuels curiosity, which cultivates wisdom.
