And Gave … and Gave … and Gave

The Snowman stands smartly dressed In a waistcoat, scarf and gloves, A top hat sits upon his head, A carrot is his nose.

A fine red fox came passing by, “Hello Snowman,” he says. “That is a lovely hat you have Upon your snowy head,”

“Please, take it, my dear friend Fox,” The Snowman says and smiles. “I don’t really need a hat, You may have it for a while.”

Next a Rabbit hops along and says, “I love your carrot nose.” The Snowman said, “Please take it. You are hungry I suppose.”

An Owl flew down from a tree Saying, “How d-o-o you d-o-o? I love the waistcoat that you wear. It’s cold this winter t-o-o.”

“Please take it,” said the Snowman, “I really am quite warm.” The Owl thanks him and flies away, Before the next snowstorm.

Soon a young Bear Cub appears And says, “I love your scarf. It looks so good around your neck.” She gives a nervous laugh.

“Please take it,” says the Snowman, “It will help keep your neck warm. I don’t really need it, I’m a Snowman after all.”

So, all the animals are happy, For the Snowman shows them love. This winter they will all be warm - And he still has his gloves.

In her wonderful story Pooh Runs Through My Open Door, my friend and fellow writer Raine Lore said as follows:

“And so, I have declared October to be, International Celebrate Your Inner Child Day, which brings me to the prompt part of my post.

Get excited, break out your paints, crayons, pens and pencils and draw something childlike!

It can be anything at all as long as it has colour (‘color’, if you live somewhere other than Oz or England or anywhere else that doesn’t use Us). Then, gaze intently at your picture and write something silly, funny, deeply meaningful or outrageous. Make us laugh, make us cry, make us feel spiritual, or even make us feel sorry for you. 🤣”
