The Smart Way to Make Money on Etsy First Month and for Free
What if I told you that you can start making money on Etsy without even investing a single dollar?
In fact, this is how I started selling digital products on this marketplace.
I used free resources and created a free account.
This is why I know that selling online does not involve a huge upfront investment.
For this example, I will focus on selling digital planners, trackers, or any other type of templates.
And we will need two tools to use: Canva and Creative Fabrica.
With Canva you have access to enough tools and features that can help you transform your work into profit.
Creative Fabrica is a marketplace with millions of elements, templates, and graphics, all available with a simple commerce license.
STEP 1: The Starting Point
You may be wondering how these two tools are connected.
It is simple: Creative Fabrica is running a promotion where you can sign up for a free account and get 10 downloads of any element on their marketplace for free.
This is significant considering that a bundle of elements counts as just one download.
So click here to get 10 free downloads on Creative Fabrica.
With Canva, you can sign up for a free account and still have access to a wide range of features that allow you to create stunning graphics and templates.
STEP 2: The Method
Okay, now let’s talk about the method itself.
And it’s simple.
Just go to Creative Fabrica, search for editable templates for Canva, and download them.
In the next step, open your Canva account and change the fonts, texts, or other elements on the template to make it unique.
The final step is to upload this template to your store on Etsy.
I have tried to explain this method as simply as possible to give you an idea that making money with digital products is not difficult.
- Download editable templates from Creative Fabrica
- Modify them in Canva
- Create a listing on Etsy
STEP 3: The Problem
Problem #1: One of the biggest problems with this method is the fact that you need to change some elements on the template you downloaded from Creative Fabrica, as I mentioned before.
This is because you are not allowed to use these templates without modifying them if you download them with a POD license from this marketplace.

It also allows you to stay safe, which can prevent you from getting banned on Etsy for using someone else’s products.
Problem #2: The second issue you will face with this method is competition. Selling digital products on Etsy is immensely popular, resulting in fierce competition.
To avoid this, you should target a specific niche audience. Take the time to conduct detailed research and carefully consider your options. Doing so will help you avoid headaches in the future.
STEP 4: Scaling Up
If you find this method effective for you, consider investing some money into additional resources.
This will allow you to acquire more templates quickly, list them on Etsy, and gain traction.
It’s important to note that Etsy prefers stores with a high number of sales, reviews, and frequently added new listings.
While upgrading to a Canva Pro account is not mandatory, I highly recommend considering a subscription to Creative Fabrica.
They offer a fantastic All Access monthly subscription, allowing you to download a wide range of content from their marketplace for a small monthly fee. I have provided a detailed look at this license on my website.

If you want to grow your business, it is necessary to invest both money and time.
However, it is important to be smart with your investments. Why spend money when there are free alternatives or ways to accomplish the same thing?
But once your business gains traction and generates good profits, you should invest in tools and services that will help you work more efficiently.
So, why not give this free method I have described in this example a try? Alternatively, you can explore different variations and see if any of them work for you.
