What you should know before you toss your hat in the podcasting ring
Podcasting is a booming business, with the radio on life support it’s only a matter of time before the plug is pulled. Advertising budgets are already being shifted towards podcasting. Media and broadcasting companies are in investing in podcasts.
The barrier to entry is low all you need is your iPhone, AnchorFM, and you are off to the races. If I was starting a podcast today the first thing I’d figure out is my WHY. Simon Sinek has a book entitled Start With Why, knowing my WHY has kept my head in the podcasting business.
Six Thinking Hats of a Solopodneur:
Executive producer As a podcast producer, your job is to oversee the production of a podcast. In this role, you may act as a sound engineer as well.
Editor An editor will take your recording and prepare it for distribution, if you tech-savvy you could probably navigate your way around Garageband if not you can visit fiver
Copywriter: Once your show is ready to be published you're going to need show notes, show notes can be turned into a blog post.
Host: If you started the show chances are your will be the host, think Oprah.
Research/booking: before the guest makes it behind the mic you’ll have to do a little research then put on your producer hat to determine the direction of the show.
Sales/Marketing/Promotion: Solopodneurs are unique individuals who are focused and passionate they’re the type of people who are determined to succeed. They will figure out a way to support their art. These individuals are cut from an entrepreneurial cloth. They don’t mind putting in the leg work to build their brand.

In Napoleon Hills' classic book Think And Grow Rich he shares a story of Uncle Darby who was three feet from gold and he quit.
Uncle Darby packed up all his equipment and sold it to a junkman who consulted with an engineer who told him about fault lines and after a few calculations he showed the vein would be picked up in three feet from gold.
