The Siren’s Call

To unknown waters

Siren’s blare behind me, blinding my hearing and disintegrating my fear, flashing my eyes with light-hearted visions, and even though I know that something smells fishy, I can’t bring myself to forget what my heart wants to remember.

It’s the voice in my head that throws itself, pretending to be spawning from the sea, or from a car behind me, or from the sky above me, or from the ground below me, beckoning me toward an unknown end, only for me to follow its path and find out the clearing it led me to was my own clear head, devoid of all the things that voided my confidence in my own.

It was so empty I thought it was death, but I still felt my breath escaping me, lost for words at this lost world that was hidden right underneath what I thought I knew.

And the next morning the sun shone on the nothing new, but I saw the nothing new in a new view, a lens that lends itself to the bending of old ways and breaking of antiquated playthings.

And all I ever wanted was to play.
