The Sight that Changed Everything

October Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Site or Sight”

Some sights change your path forever.

For 4 months, the above sight was my site of work. It was the view I woke up to every morning and spent the majority of my days at.

Last December, I flew halfway across the world to Canada with the goal of working the winter season at a ski resort. I was supposed to start my Masters in the next year and had some time to “spare” — Canada had always been on my bucket list.

I eventually got a job as a rental technician and snowboard instructor at a tiny ski resort in British Columbia. Little did I know that this would alter the course of the life I had planned out.

Four months later, I knew that being outdoors and experiencing the world was what made me happy at this moment in time. I realized that I wasn’t ready for my Masters and wanted to keep traveling.

Seeing the mountains every morning and feeling the sun on my skin changed everything I thought I knew, and I am very glad it did. I’m sure I will go back to my Masters one day, but that day isn’t here yet.
