The shape of a tear

Where does a Pitch come from

Silence Someone opens their eyes The moon noticed it

To date we don’t know if Pitch really exist.

Some scientists claim that Pitch are generated by the ripples of gravitational waves. Doctors, perhaps joking, perhaps seriously, say that Pitch are born from sneezing. Poets, of course, are certain that Pitch come from the moon.

I want to believe an old lady, dressed in fall and spring, met years ago in a park, who told me about the Pitch that arise from children’s tears.

She was an elementary school teacher.

At the beginning of a school year, there was a child who every morning, during recess, hid in some corner of the classroom and wept softly.

She tried to understand the reason for that cry, the roots of that sadness. It was not possible, because after only a few days, the child no longer showed up in class. The family had moved to another town, she was told.

But on the last day they saw each other, she gave the child a small ruled notebook. One of the child’s tears fell on the first page and the salt water on the paper spread out and took the shape of a Pitch.

She pointed to the stain that looked like a pet. The child hinted at a wonderful dawning smile. And she told him that in that notebook he could drawn the reasons for his sadness, because the paper, the hands, and that tear they would lighten his heart.

And therefore, you see, concluded the old teacher, Pitch are born from children’s tears, and they certainly have some small mission, such as wiping them away.

So she said, before disappearing, toward the sky, toward the moon, in a merry whirl of leaves and flowers.
