The Shadow, Hidden as the Light
The Tale of the Shadow Land in Mysteria

Tale of Mysteria
Mysteria is a land of peace, protected by the elders of light who represent the divine will of goddess Illumine. Famine and hunger were long eliminated by the guiding hand of the goddess, and mortals lived in prosperity.
In the furthest reach of Mysteria exists the shadowland. Surrounded by everlasting darkness, the shadowland of the Mysteria is the domain of the pale lord and its minions. No light, even if it’s divine, can pass through the barrier of darkness surrounding this land of blackness.
According to the legends, the pale lord is an ancient demon and, with his army, tried to devourer everything in Mysteria and drown the land in eternal darkness. The goddess and her celestial army fought the demons for 9 days and was able to mortally wound the pale lord by shattering his core.
The victory was short-lived because the shattered core of the pale lord released the eternal darkness, resulting in the death of millions of heroes and demons alike. With all her might, the goddess Illumine was able to imprison the darkness and the pale lord in the furthest corner of Mysteria and created the shadowland to seal the horrors of darkness forever.
It’s taboo for the citizens of Mysteria even to utter the word shadowland or to gaze upon the horrid creatures that roam near the barriers of shadowland. Mear gaze upon these creatures is enough to make a mortal go blind, and uttering the cursed word “shadowland” would drive them insane with the madness. Only the divine blessing of the goddess can cure these unfortunate souls if they succumb to the horrors of the shadowland.
The Tale of Shadowland
“So that wretched goddess has turned us into villains, the horrid creatures of darkness. Her deceptions know no bound just as her hunger for power”
Like most civilizations in the cosmos, Mysteria is also filled with foolish mortals who believe that white and light represent the good and fear the dark. This cunning woman is using that belief to make them into her own slaves. The blindness and the madness caused by uttering our name and mere gaze at us is nothing but a curse she imbued them with at their blessing ceremony of birth, and That’s the very reason that only she can dispel the curse.
She blesses them all at the birth, and these fools are willing to receive the blessing for the powers she grants them, not knowing the two curses she imbued them. One is to prevent them from uttering the word shadowland and to prevent their gaze upon us, and the second is the worst; it makes sure that none will develop their abilities to the point that could threaten her authority or see through her deceptions.
These mortals don’t require her wretched blessings to achieve greatness. And the powers they possess right after her blessing are what they were born with, and all her blessing does is make that very power manifest before the mortal’s soul or body is ready to handle it, thus preventing any further developments.
For her, they are nothing but a meal to feed her insatiable hunger for power. Their worship gives her strength, and upon death, she claims their souls to make herself more powerful, preventing them from becoming one with the cosmic universe.
“ My Lord can’t you really help these poor mortals”
Convincing these mortals about the evil nature of their so-called “Goddess of Light” will never work, they are addicted to her blessing as she is for power. Her story about the power-hungry dark lord is engraved to the mind of those fools so well, even if I manage to dispel her curse from making them go blind or mad, they’ll never believe a word I would tell, And most of all the moment I set foot in their city, she will attack the shadowland with all her might and will surely destroy all who lives here by the time of my return, and my mear presence will trigger all the curses she has engraved to the city itself causing cataclysmic events that will kill millions of Mysterains and she will blame that on me and gain more loyal followers.
The only way to stop her is for the mortals themselves to realize how blind they are to the polarized one-sided advice from the demons disguised as the agent of light. And to understand that just because someone dressed in black they are not bad and people who always dress in light could very well be the most corrupt. Until they realize that no one can save them from their impending doom.
