How to Have an Unshakable Belief?
The Secret to Believing in Yourself
Not the Mainstream Self-Help Advice
On a self-improvement journey, your habits won’t stick. When reading books or working on your dreams, you won’t get further. You won’t be able to improve.
You will hit a plateau. Self-improvement is a lifetime concept. You don’t read books for 30 days or write for 30 days and see massive results in your life.
Live with the concept of self-improvement every day. Live with improving yourself every day. For me, writing, reading, and working out is self-improvement.
In the journey, you’ll find yourself stuck in a labyrinth of self-doubt. Something is stopping you from taking action. Something stops you from living the life of your dreams.
You are working on your goals every day, putting in the time and the energy, but you don’t see the results.
I started my self-improvement journey three years ago. I agreed that I’d read 100 books and write 2000 words in a day. I have improved, but I didn’t go that far.
I have put more output in my writing. Something stopped me; it was self-doubt. It was judging me based on how others perceive me.
I started chasing attention from people, and my destruction as a writer began. I wasted time writing what I didn’t want to read. My obsession with chasing attention got the worst of me.
I lacked belief. Self-doubt stems from a lack of faith. I thought I wouldn’t be able to write a bestseller, a blog, or poetry.
I wrote for attention. I am not talking mumbo-jumbo like “The Secret.” Beliefs shape our reality.
Your thoughts create a lasting impact on your life. To live a good life, the life of your dreams has to change your beliefs. But it is difficult; it requires time, effort, and crucial self-introspection.
With hard work, you can go a little ahead in life. When you change beliefs, you will see results. Without faith, your life will crumble, and your dreams will shatter into small pieces.
Imagine you are on your deathbed. You’ll keep getting reminded that you’ll die. You’ll keep getting reminded that you should have worked on your dreams.
If you had a belief in yourself, you could’ve overcome self-doubt. But what if you can always know your thoughts? Work to change the negative stream of negative thoughts.
How Can You Change Your Beliefs That Stop You?
On average, you have 50000 thoughts in a day. If you are an over-thinker, you might have 90000 thoughts in a day. The thoughts are our inner beliefs.
Our thoughts are the words, imaginations that swirl in our minds. You cannot notice our every thought.
How are we able to think 50000 thoughts in a day? It seems a lot. These thoughts go on autopilot.
Thoughts, in the majority, are the experiences and failures. The thoughts I face are of a girl who I chased in college. I used to pursue her affection. I wrote a novel to impress her.
I wasted four years of my life chasing her, got nothing in return. I felt like a failure.
All the thought and energy I gave on her, this still haunts me. I fear going out and talking to girls. I’m afraid of loving.
I am scared to get into a relationship. I am better off single.
I wanted to become a bestselling author. I thought my first novel could become a bestseller. I failed to realize that many writers don’t start right away with their careers.
My first and my second novel failed. These failures haunt me. I wrote my third novel, “Leila,” rewrote it three times to get it right.
I was a perfectionist. After two years of working on that novel, I threw that in the garbage.
You might face the same every day. You might felt like a loser every day. You cannot control our past now; you don’t have the time machine.
The time machine you have is the present. You can tweak your reality. This time machine is your thoughts.
This time machine will not take you to the future with the press of a button. This machine is the slowest in the entire world.
Your thoughts determine your actions. If you wake up in a foul mood thinking this is the worst day of your life, it will be the worst. But replacing it with a positive thought can affect your day.
The cycle of thoughts repeats itself. To enjoy that cycle, you need to create another cycle with a stream of positive thoughts.
Be Patient
It takes time. It can take months, weeks, or years. You should have patience because you’re repairing the damage in your present caused by your past.
To repair the damage, to fix that failure will take time. Being patient will let you know when you do not see results because of the lack of belief or lack of commitment.
Figure Out Your Negative Thoughts
Figure out the thought ingrained in you. I suggest that you only take one thought at a time.
If you want to read a hundred books and while reading, you feel you can’t finish it. Figure out what you should say to yourself. You can say, “I finished reading the book last time,” “I can achieve my goal of reading 100 books”.
Don’t overwork yourself by reprogramming every thought. That will lead your conscious mind and subconscious mind to fall in a loop of confusion.
Find Proof of Your Thought.
Find proof of your thought. What is the proof? If I sit down to write and I cannot write, I tell myself, “I wrote yesterday and day before yesterday” “I write for the entire week,” that is proof of the thought.
Your brain gets out of laziness when you give the proof of you achieving your goal.
Repeat the New Thought With Proof
Repeat those thoughts with proof. When you repeat this stream of thoughts with evidence, it will motivate you.
Rise. Rinse. Repeat.
Repeat the previous step until it becomes your dominant thought. What is the dominant thought? The belief you gained with experience and with proof.
Because of the predominant thoughts running in your mind every day, the thought cycle repeats. When you replace the negative dominant thoughts with positive thoughts, your entire self will change.
Self-improvement doesn’t happen in an instant.
You should know what is going inside your head. You should be able to turn negative thoughts and your experiences into positive ones.
