Summary

The provided content is an acrostic poem reflecting on the eerie nature of Halloween amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The text presents "The Season of Halloween," an acrostic poem by Geetika Sethi, which captures the essence of Halloween set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The poem, using each letter of "Halloween" to convey a sentiment, expresses the amplified fear and uncertainty during a time traditionally associated with scares, while also acknowledging the gloom that the pandemic has cast over the festive season. The accompanying narrative highlights the contrast between the usual Halloween festivities and the subdued celebrations due to COVID-19, questioning which is more frightening. Despite the somber tone, the author ends with a note of hope, anticipating the end of the pandemic and the return to normalcy and other joyous festivities.

Opinions

  • The author views Halloween as a period of fear and darkness, which is intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The season of Halloween is actually nothing but scare. And with this thought in mind, I wrote this Acrostic Poem on Halloween. That one day surely creates turmoil in the lives of people — in case of dressing up and showing up. No wonder the dark night is a scary one especially now in Covid 19 times when one actually wonders what’s more scary — Halloween or Covid 19? But don't forget, after every darkness there is dawn. Let’s soon be ready to welcome other festivities post-Halloween.
