Abstract

The article "The Search for Love" delves into the multifaceted nature of love through vivid metaphors. The author likens love to a river, a storm, a fragrance, the sky, a knife, an endless hunger, an eternal guiding light, a path to awareness, and ultimately as a journey of self-discovery. Each metaphor is elaborately woven to illustrate love's complexities—its ability to both challenge and nourish. The piece culminates in a personal note where the author thanks her fellow writers and artists from the Dancing Elephants Press

The Search For Love

A journey of you and me…towards Us

“The coming together in Love.” Picture of the author from her performance at India International Centre, New Delhi; Looking Back To Move Forward Festival by Mansa Arts.

Some express love is a river With the droplets flowing in innumerable sensations It drowns the reed within Only to create the flute that breaths the whispered secrets

Others say love is a storm With the clouds gathering the myriad emotions It uproots deep from the core Only to shine in the thunder of passion

For a few love is a fragrance With the petals unfolding in innocence It struggles with the seed Only to answer the existence as it blooms

Some take love as the sky With twinkling stars filling the expanse It holds the darkness close Only to scatter bliss, embracing the incandescent canvas

Some see love sharp like a knife With the wound leaving us raw It tears the heart open Only to carve a path for the beloved to be welcomed

Some think love as endless hunger With the mind full of desires It bares the web of thoughts Only to want more in this ultimate joy of union

Some feel love as the eternal guiding light With the flame burning the self It dispels the void of reasons Only to be pilgrims on this path of reverence

Some call love the path to awareness With the dance in silence It is a disappearance in communion Only to permeate in nothingness as nameless beings

Some ask what is Love? With the questions restraining the being It is a search of the self Only to be the doorway of freedom in togetherness

For me love is all of life But mostly just L.O.V.E A bit of you, a bit of me Becoming the key to us
