Science says that getting a good night’s sleep is like a superhero for our well-being. It can make us live longer, smarter, fitter, and happier during the day. People often worry about complex stuff like diets and exercise, but all those efforts don’t mean much if you don’t sleep well at night. 😴

Everything should begin with a good night sleep!

What is essential to know about this superhero called SLEEP.

  • Sleep discipline and waking up at 5 AM

Everyone operates on their own rhythm, and sleep comes naturally when we follow that own rhythm.

But there’s a connection between sleep and discipline. Going to bed and waking up at the same time is a simple way to ensure a good night’s sleep. Many successful people wake up at 5 AM because they’re disciplined. So, the question is: do you wake up at 5:00 AM because you’re disciplined, or are you disciplined because you wake up at 5:00 AM?

What makes successful people different is their skill at following a plan and having a routine. When it comes to sleep, this means going to bed and waking up when they want.

Waking up early can be beneficial because all the thoughts your brain generated overnight are ready for action before being influenced by the goals and demands of others.

Being disciplined and having a routine make it easier to get enough sleep and wake up early.

  • Sleep structure

Sleep is really important in our lives. Even though it might seem simple to go from being awake to sleeping, there’s actually a very interesting and detailed plan happening. The architecture of sleep involves talking about :

~ light sleep

~ deep sleep

~ REM sleep

Each of these sleep stages is important for our brain.🥱

• Deep sleep helps clean the brain by getting rid of waste that builds up during the day. It’s also when we make and store memories. The brain takes things that happened during the day and puts them in long-term memory, making space for new things. Once memories are stored, there’s room to learn new stuff.

• If deep sleep is about memories, REM sleep is about dealing with feelings. During this sleep stage, we start working on our emotions. That’s when we have crazy dreams because the brain is fine-tuning our emotional system.

• Deep sleep is more about facts and figures, while REM sleep is more about feelings and creativity. We need both to work properly.

Not getting enough sleep causes problems for our body and mind. Studies show that when people don’t get enough sleep, their brains 🧠 show the same signs as those with memory problems. So, make sure you get enough sleep!

  • The amount of sleep 💤

Based on research, the recommended amount of sleep varies with age. The Sleep Foundation offers these guidelines regarding the need for rest — adults should aim for approximately 8 hours of sleep per night to function effectively.

The idea that missed nights of sleep can’t be fully made up is a common belief. In reality, when you don’t get enough sleep, a “sleep debt” builds up. This means your body will require additional time to make up for the deficit. A 2022 study suggests it might take as long as four days to recover from just one hour of lost sleep.

Sleep should take up about a third of a person’s life, and it’s recommended to get 7 to 9 hours each night.

However, nearly half of adults either sleep too little or too much, and 9 out of 10 people don’t get a good, restful sleep.

While how long you sleep is important, the quality of your sleep matters too. When you sleep, your body makes things that help it work properly. Not getting enough good sleep can mess up the production of these things, which might lead to long-term health problems.

Sleep is like a precious chain that keeps our health and body connected. So, go and try to get some quality sleep! 😴
