Summary

Brenda's enchanting but unconventional roommate Serenity, a mermaid, leads a double life, captivating onlookers with her beauty while periodically returning to the sea, inadvertently causing maritime disasters.

Abstract

The narrative titled "The Roommate no one would want" tells the story of Brenda, who unknowingly invited Serenity, a mesmerizing mermaid with green eyes and dark brown hair, to be her roommate. Serenity's allure is such that she draws attention wherever she goes. However, her peculiar habit of perpetually soaking in the bathtub, coupled with her possession of a shimmering silver tail, hints at her supernatural origins. Once a month, Serenity returns to the sea, fulfilling her mermaid destiny, an event that correlates with violent storms and shipwrecks, leading to the sinking of ships and the loss of sailors' lives. Despite her beauty, Serenity embodies the roommate of nightmares, a mermaid whose presence on land is as enchanting as it is disastrous.

Opinions

  • Serenity's captivating appearance is universally acknowledged, as she is described as stunning and radiant.
  • The author suggests that Serenity's constant bathing and her silver tail are indicative of her extraordinary nature as a mermaid.
  • Brenda's experience with Serenity as a roommate is implied to be unsettling and far from ideal due to Serenity's supernatural activities and the calamities they cause.
  • The narrative conveys a sense of foreboding and danger associated with Serenity's monthly returns to the sea, which result in treacherous weather conditions and maritime tragedies.
  • The roommate's identity as a mermaid is presented as both a wonder and a warning, emphasizing the duality of her presence in the human world.

The Roommate no one would want

She was always in the Bathtub

When Brenda invited Serenity to stay,

She had no idea that things would go this way.

Her roommate had green eyes and dark brown hair,

Serenity was gorgeous and everyone would stop to stare,

Her roommate would never leave the bathtub,

She was always soaking in it every day and night,

With a large shiny tail so silver and bright.

Brenda’s roommate was not an ordinary one,

She was more radiant than the rising sun,

Once a month she would slip out into the sea,

To fulfill her supernatural mermaid destiny.

That night there would be storms and shipwrecks,

As ships sank and sailors fell off the decks.

The roommate no one would want was Serenity,

A mermaid who walked out from the open sea.
